Words From Thoughts In My Brain That I Typed With My Fingers, e.i. - BOOGBLOG

Category: Life

Celebrate life. As the French say, "Joie de vivre!" The joy of life! Be passionate. Laugh.

Love. Respect yourself, each other, nature. Music is the language of God. Thank God for

musicians, and cornmedians. Comedians too. Make a regular effort toward health and

fitness. Have a good "play ethic", and don't be in too much of a rush to grow old. We've

discovered the Fountain of Youth. And we call it, the Pacific. But you have to get in it

almost daily, especially when the waves are good!

Discipline, to have some balance for the unruly child in us. It's all a voyage of self-

discovery. The shiny diamond is within us. It is amazing what we can accomplish with

focus, drive, and commitment. Health and fitness come to mind again. You can change

yourself, and you can change the world. When asked what it was like to come up with

the drop-knee stance, aka "the Jack Stance", I said I was just having fun. My clever

response a few days later was, "One small step for man, one giant flop of a flippered

foot forward for mankind!" And when I took my stance against the organizers of the Pipe

contest, boycotting the event at the height of my career, I stood by my belief that they

were holding back the athletes with the board restriction rule. Competitors were

required to use the stock brand board, and not their own custom magic board. It was a

mockery of the sport, as it favored their own team riders. Not fun stuff. Free surfing is

where it's at. No Board Restrictions. Don't forget your "play ethic", and make it fun

as much as possible.

Mental visualization. It is powerful. I surf in my mind first, practicing maneuvers with a

magazine, or my hand, as the wave, and a shaped popsicle stick as the board. I've been

making my Surferman action figure since I was 13. It's always overhead, and you never

fall down. There is Heaven on Earth, and it's in your mind. To reach for speed, sometimes

I visualize myself "falling" horizontally. I actualize it by pumping my board, weighting

and unweighting, to redirect the force of gravity, shooting me across the wave. I also use

self-talk manifestation to make corrections and strive for excellence. Right before I take

off, I'll say to myself something like "Get up quicker!" or "No mistakes!" or

my favorite, "Flawless!"

Reassess your beliefs, behavior patterns, and philosophy. Don't get stuck in a rut,

following the crowd. Think for yourself, and be original. As the French also say, "vive le

difference!" The French got some good sayings, don't they? I think it was originally

celebrating the difference between the sexes. To me, this one's about individualism.

Celebrate the difference between individuals. Be open minded. What's all this "Us verses

Them" stuff? I came from Sandy Beach in the Seventies. It was a place not without its

own flaws, but it was a somewhat utopian society where "it was all good". Not so

cliquish, or snobby, it was cool to be different. And it was cool to do it all, or not. My

mentors were surfers, i.e. Gerry Lopez, and paipo boarders, i.e. Primo Richards, maybe

because there were practically no bodyboarders before me. But I think it was mainly

because those guys ripped. With style. And it didn't matter what they were riding.

Success in business. I'm just putting it out there because that's what I want (besides

health and fitness, and hot sex!). And...? And...? And I want to be successful with what I

am passionate about, what I believe in, what I have fun with and love doing. Now you

know, jackdarippa.com is my website. My site reflects my vision: FUNctional Bodyboards

and Accessories. Jack da Rippa Bodyboards is my label. I really do believe it's the board

that deserves the credit for my performance. When I say that, I mean custom made

boards from a working relationship with a shaper over a period of time. I know that I can

visualize excellence in performance all I want. But if the board sucks, it ain't gonna

happen (unless you're someone like Primo, who rode a wave standing up on a garbage

can lid on a bet for a six-pack!). So if you want your board to start catching up with your

mind, get on board with my program. Email me at jack@jackdarippa.com, and

               let's get started!           Aloha........
